This memoir of a courageous young African American girl, born in the Hungry Neck section of Charleston, speaks of her upbringing by her grandmother and an abusive step-grandfather and how she overcame many obstacles to find happiness as an adult. Copies of the book may be obtained from the Reference Desk while supplies last.
